A fresh & simple wine made from 30 year-old Albariño vines from a handful of plots, all within 2km of the Atlantic. Whole bunches are pressed directly and the juice is fermented and aged in stainless steel on the lees for 11 months before being bottled without any additions.
From a long line of winemakers in Rias Baixas, Constantina Sotelo makes honest & pure wines from old Albariño vines - most of which are ungrafted - trained in the traditional local method on pergolas. All her wines are naturally fermented without any additions. Although Constantina’s bodega is in the heart of Rias Baixas she chooses to work outside of the DO due to their restrictive and conservative rules which require wines to be filtered and/or inoculated with lab bred yeast in all wines that contain the DO’s stamp. These are restrictions which Constantina disagrees with and therefore she is not permitted to either label her wines with Rias Baixas or list the varietal on her bottles.
