A chance encounter for us when Steve the winemaker walked into Pullo one day and asked if we would like to taste his wine and wow is it a stunner!
Priorat is a region that is too often becoming baked in high summer temperatures that make the grapes either scorched, parched or over-ripe at harvest. The wines from Els Bigotis are wonderfully fresh, balancing a good acidity with rounded tannins from a mixture of new and old oak ageing that means you would never realise it clocks in at 14.5%. Steve works his land by hand without tractors and uses a froends wine cellar for his production due to the small-scale nature of his operation.
2020 was a horrible year for Catalunya with massive amounts of crop lost to mildew. As such the Bigotis is 100% old vine Garnacha (Grenache) from Steve's own vines without the usual Syrah and Carinyana (Carignan) in the blend. The wine is thus is richer on the bramble fruit jam notes and has been able to be released earlier than the usual timeframe. Only 650 bottles were made and released this year.

Unfortunately from time to time wines or ciders may arrive out of condition, usually due to defective closures or any number of possible naturally occurring faults. If you find a bottle where you believe this is the case please contact us immediately.
You may wish to cancel your order for whatever reason after it arrives. In which case you may do so within 7 working days from receiving the order, provided the bottles are unopened, intact and in their original packaging (which must still be in its original condition). Once the goods are collected and inspected, we will reimburse you for the cost of the product minus a surcharge for collection. If you fail to make the goods available for collection within 14 days of cancellation, you will be deemed to have accepted the goods.
