THE WINE
A hazy, vibrant splash of tropical fruit and salinity. Grapes come from 40-year-old vines in a warm, wet vintage. They underwent five days of whole-bunch cold maceration before being gently pressed straight to 1,000 L old wooden barrels for indigenous yeast fermentation and ageing. The wine was bottled unfiltered, with no added sulphur, in May 2022.
THE PEOPLE
Since 2014 Brothers Daniel & Jonas Brand run operations on their Bockenheim family farm, which was organic since 2007. Their focus is on the ecological management of the land, using plant based extracts in the vineyard and planting wild herbs & other cover crops to promote healthy soil & grapes. They make wines with both youthful energy and careful precision.
THE PLACE
Wines from Bockenheim in Germany’s Pfalz region reflect the village’s cool, breezy microclimate on the northern Haardt hills. Whites, especially Riesling, Grauburgunder, and Weißburgunder, are fresh, fruit-driven, and often show subtle mineral notes, while reds, mainly Spätburgunder, are elegant, light-bodied, and focused on red fruit and spice. Producers increasingly emphasize dry, terroir-driven wines, balancing freshness and finesse with the region’s loam and limestone soils.
Bockenheim has a cooler climate than most of the Pfalz (therefore the grapes ripen slower). The weather in their area is influenced by the Donnersberg mountain (around 650m high) which shields them from incoming weather systems, the wind is then funnelled down two valleys which means it is fairly breezy and this helps keep the vineyards free from mildew. 12 ha of there are situated on the Bockenheim Sonnenberg hill, vineyards range from 150m up to 350m.

Unfortunately from time to time wines or ciders may arrive out of condition, usually due to defective closures or any number of possible naturally occurring faults. If you find a bottle where you believe this is the case please contact us immediately.
You may wish to cancel your order for whatever reason after it arrives. In which case you may do so within 7 working days from receiving the order, provided the bottles are unopened, intact and in their original packaging (which must still be in its original condition). Once the goods are collected and inspected, we will reimburse you for the cost of the product minus a surcharge for collection. If you fail to make the goods available for collection within 14 days of cancellation, you will be deemed to have accepted the goods.
