THE WINE
A favourite from the tasters when Paolo came to visit us here - this a great tasting version of Primativo from outside of its usual home in the far south of the country. The electric vibrancy of the volcanic soils of the vineyards really shows through.
THE PEOPLE
Based in Velletri in Lazio, 45Km south east of Rome. Colleformica is a father-son led operation from Sergio and Paolo Bombetti. Farming just 3 hectares that the family has owned for over 130 years ith 2Ha dedicated to vines and the remaining land used for vegetables and olive trees (that predate the family owning this land!). Their wines are great value for truly vibrant and punchy flavourful table wines.
THE PLACE
Lazio, a region in central Italy, is known for its rich winemaking tradition, particularly its white wines. The region’s volcanic soils and Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions for cultivating native grape varieties such as Malvasia and Trebbiano, which are used in the production of Frascati, one of Lazio’s most famous wines. While white wines dominate, Lazio also produces notable reds, including those made from Cesanese, a historic grape variety that yields structured and aromatic wines. In recent years, a growing focus on quality and indigenous varietals has helped Lazio’s wines gain greater recognition beyond Italy.
