THE WINE
Primitivo from this region offers a contrast to its Puglian cousins being more taut and minerally deep - full of volcanic influence, not jammy and overpowering in its alcohol. This is rose with character and best enjoyed with food; seafood and salty snacks being particularly good pairings.
THE PEOPLE
A new winery with old vines from Roberto Zeno in Sessa Aurunca, overlooking the Gulf of Gaeta in the province of Caserta. Production is currently 8,000 bottles a year of Fiano, Primitivo, Falanghina and a Rosato di Primitivo. The land is about 22 hectares of which 5 are detdicated to vineyards. The rest are a mixture of olive groves, wheat and legumes. Vinifications of Enoz Wine are carried out exclusively in amphora - in part - in dedication to the ancient legacy of wine in this landscape but also to allow for the volcanic character of the vineyards to show through.
THE PLACE
IGP Roccamonfina is a wine designation from the Campania region in southern Italy, named after the Roccamonfina volcano. It covers a range of wines, both red and white, made from indigenous grape varieties like Aglianico, Piedirosso, and Falanghina. The region’s volcanic soils and the mountain's influence on climate provide a unique terroir, contributing to wines with rich flavors and good acidity. The reds tend to be full-bodied with dark fruit flavors, while the whites are crisp and aromatic, offering a refreshing expression of Campania’s diverse viticulture.
