Perry; A Drinker's Guide with Adam Wells

Book Launch and Tasting Thursday 4th July 2024 6.30pm

£25pp inc. wines and snacks

For the first time, the complete international story of perry - the drinks world’s best-kept secret - is revealed in Adam Well's groundbreaking book, "Perry; A Drinker’s Guide."

Come join us for an evening of conversation, whilst tasting a few bottles of this gem of a drink.

Perry; A Drinker’s Guide takes drinkers through the styles, flavours, varieties, countries, regions, and producers of this ancient and intriguing drink. Whether you are a long-time perry enthusiast or discovering it for the first time, the Adam offers a wealth of information by charting the drink’s remarkable history, walking you through the orchards and the trees that make this drink — some of them over three-hundred years old — and guides you through perry’s three great heartlands, in the UK, Normandy and Austria’s Mostviertel, as well as casting an eye on the makers pioneering this drink elsewhere around the world.

Although the major industrial brands are declining, consumers and producers worldwide are recognizing the brilliance, potential, and variety of perry. They are now crafting better, more exciting full-juice perries than ever before.

Adam Wells is an award-winning drinks writer and presenter. Founder-editor of the world’s leading cider and perry website, Cider Review, he has contributed to numerous drinks publications and co-hosts the popular Cider Voice podcast.

Our tastings are relaxed group events where we open a range of wines or ciders to explore a theme, region or style. We usually taste 5-6 bottles, with some snacks available too. The tasting and talk itself will typically take about 1.5 hours, with questions afterwards. After the tasting you're welcome to stay for more chat, drinks & nibbles if you'd like (closing 10pm).
