THE WINE

This well-balanced red wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 16% Tannat. Fruit-forward and easy to drink, it offers heady, spicy aromas and a long, elegant finish with smooth, well-integrated tannins. The grapes are harvested at night for optimal freshness and vinified separately in stainless steel vats with gentle pump-overs and natural malolactic fermentation. Perfect with barbecued meats, it also pairs beautifully with Garbure—a traditional South-West France soup with cabbage, vegetables, and duck or pork confit—or a platter of Gascon charcuterie.

This wine, named “The Three Fountains,” pays tribute to the region’s rich Roman heritage and its famous fountains—Diane in Lectoure, the Miraculous fountain in Avensac, and the one in Auch’s Escalier Monumental—once used by pilgrims on their journey to Santiago de Compostela.

THE PEOPLE

Since the Middle Ages, the Benedictine monks of the Saint Mont Monastery have passed down their winemaking knowledge, cultivating a deep bond between people and the land. For centuries, local grapes were mainly used for distilling Armagnac—until André Dubosc, a third-generation winemaker, helped transform the region’s wine reputation. With a group of young growers, he revitalized the Saint Mont appellation, brought new life to Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh sweet whites, and developed Côtes de Gascogne dry whites. In 1979, three local cooperatives—Plaisance, Aignan, and Saint-Mont—merged to form “Plaimont Producteurs.” Later, cooperatives from Crouseilles and Condom joined, uniting key wine regions of the Gers.

Plaimont practices traditional vineyard methods including organic farming, Guyot pruning, bud and early leaf removal, and alternating ploughed and grassed-over rows to balance vine vigor and ensure grape maturity.

THE PLACE

The wines of the IGP Côtes de Gascogne, located in southwest France, are known for their vibrant freshness and aromatic intensity. Primarily white wines, they often feature grapes like Colombard, Gros Manseng, and Sauvignon Blanc, producing crisp, fruity wines with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and white flowers. Red and rosé wines are also made, typically from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tannat, offering juicy, approachable styles. Thanks to the region’s oceanic climate and innovative winemaking, Côtes de Gascogne wines are celebrated for their balance, drinkability, and excellent value.
