THE WINE
This 100% Shiraz is a fresher, more vibrant take on the classic style, offering bright red fruit alongside the varietal hallmarks of mint, black pepper, and a hint of smoked meat. Hand-harvested and fully destemmed, the grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-top stainless steel tanks, then matured for six months in old 500L puncheons. The wine is racked into tank before bottling without filtration or fining, preserving its natural texture and purity. With its lively acidity and savoury edge, it pairs beautifully with barbecued meats or Mediterranean vegetables with herbs.
 
THE PEOPLE
Karri Vineyard is a collaboration between Les Caves de Pyrene and Xavier Goodridge, created with the aim of producing high-quality Australian wines from Margaret River at outstanding value. The grapes for the Stone Spring Shiraz are from the Chaff Mill block of the Knights Vineyard,managed by Stuart Knights, son of esteemed Barossa viticulturalist Geoff Knights.
 
THE PLACE
Margaret River, in Western Australia’s far southwest, is renowned for its Mediterranean climate, with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers—ideal conditions for producing vibrant, well-balanced wines. The region’s strong maritime influence, thanks to its proximity to the Indian Ocean, brings cooling breezes that moderate temperatures and preserve acidity in the grapes. The fruit for Stone Springs comes from two vineyard blocks with clay loam soils, planted in the mid-1980s and early 1990s, contributing complexity and depth. This combination of mature vines, coastal influence, and careful site selection makes Margaret River a standout region for expressive, terroir-driven wines.
